New reports from Japan and Australia are indicating Toyota is plotting a hot version of the Yaris.
Toyota has announced a WRC return in 2017 with the Yaris and apparently it will spawn a road-legal hot version based on the next generation of the model. The attached render belongs to Japanese magazine Best Car and was created based on information gained from sources close to Toyota.
Motoring is reporting the higher specification Yaris will be powered by a four-cylinder, 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine sourced from the Lexus NX 200t where it produces 235 bhp (175 kW) and 349 Nm (258 lb-ft). All that power will be channeled to the front wheels through a six-speed manual gearbox which should turn the potent Yaris into an absolute pocket rocket.
The next generation Toyota Yaris will be launched sometime next year which means the range-topping variant won't be out sooner than 2017.
